There are certain applications that need no presentation – there are certain applications that are a definite must have. If you’re into photo editing, you need Photoshop to get things done efficiently. If you’re into architectural drawing, you need AutoCAD to get things done efficiently. And if you’re an office worker, you need Office to, you’ve guessed it, get things done efficiently. With Microsoft’s Office productivity suite you can edit reports, create presentations, manage emails, manage notes, and much more.

Microsoft Office has been around for more than 20 years. Bill Gates introduced it at COMDEX in Las Vegas, way back in August 1988. At that time, Office was made up of three main tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Over time, the number of tools Microsoft Office has to offer grew. The productivity suite’s popularity grew as well. It is now instantly recognized by computer users all over the world.

The system requirements for running Microsoft Office 2013 (formerly Office 15) are: 1GHz processor or better, 2GB of RAM, 3GB of free disk space, Windows operating system (7, 8, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012), .NET Framework 3.5 or newer.

Several Microsoft Office 2013 editions are available; as a matter of fact, Microsoft Office 2013 comes in twelve different editions. Putting the spotlight on the Microsoft Office Professional Plus edition, it must be mentioned that it features the following:
Microsoft Access – database management system.
Microsoft Excel – spreadsheet program.
Microsoft InfoPath – design rich XML-based forms.
Microsoft Lync – integrated communications client for conferences and meetings in real time.
Microsoft OneNote – notetaking program.
Microsoft Outlook – personal information manager that includes an e-mail client, calendar, task manager and address book.
Microsoft PowerPoint – presentation program.
Microsoft Publisher – desktop publishing application.
Microsoft OneDrive Pro – cloud storage service.
Microsoft Visio Viewer – view Visio drawings.
Microsoft Word – text processor.
Office Shared Features.
Office Tools.

Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus is available through volume licensing only.
Unless you enter a license key or unless you associate it with your Office account, most features will be disabled. You can get a 60-day evaluation version from the TechNet Evaluation Center.

There is a reason why Microsoft office has been around for more than two decades and is used by millions of people around the world: it is a feature rich and properly good productivity suite!

Pros

Modern PCs can easily meet Microsoft Office’s system requirements. A setup wizard helps you install Microsoft Office on your PC; it allows you to pick and choose the components that will be installed. Lots of Microsoft Office editions are available.

Cons

Unless you enter a license key or unless you associate it with your Office account, most features will be disabled.
